What to make for dinner?

Dinner.
It happens seven nights a week.
Which means I (as the cook at my house) have to think up seven meals and then cook seven times.
Sometimes a girl needs a break!

While snooping around on facebook I noticed that tonight is the last night Fratelli's Sweetheart Deal is available.
I think perhaps my dinner plans just got a whole lot easier!

Betzy

On Saturday we headed Downtown for a book signing at Books on Broadway
Local author Dawn Denton's latest book is out.
Dawn was kind enough to read to the boys...
...and introduce them to Betzy the Bumblebee.
After our story it was time for a cookie delivered from The Cafe on Broadway and made by Betty their talented baker.  Yum!
No worries if you missed the fun, there's another book signing coming up.
Head by Books on Broadway for all the details.

28 Springs

Have you heard the news?  A new restaurant is coming to town!
At first I was concerned when I saw this (below) happening--Emelia's closing--but then the news of 28 Springs chased all of my worries away!

Renovations are taking place, and in the near future we'll be heading Downtown to eat at the new 28 Springs!

I'll see you Downtown!

(I'll be the girl on the corner watching construction--there's a lot going on with 28 Springs on one side of the street and the Connelly Harrington House on the other!  By the way, the back window at The Cafe on Broadway is the perfect place to watch the action on a cold day.)

PS: Head here to see pictures as renovations progress.

We will Restore!

On Tuesday, January 10 the historic Connelly Harrington House caught fire.  This building has been used for many different purposes over the years--at one point in time it was even a hospital.  Currently it houses Drake Renovation and Construction, Inc., a few other local businesses, and some small apartment units.  While we all feel sadness at the damage done to such a historic building, we are grateful no one was hurt.  Our wonderful fire department made sure everyone was out and even took some time to think about how to minimize damage to the building while fighting the fire!  Yet another reason our Downtown is such a wonderful place!

Shortly after the fire, this sign went up in front of the building.  It reads:
We will Restore!
"The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former..." Haggai 2:9

That's right, renovations have already begun!  Drake Renovation and Construction, Inc. is diligently and lovingly hard at work.

While a fire is nothing to be thankful for, I am thankful this building is being cared for.  I am also confident it will be better than before!  Restoration progress can be followed on Drake Renovation and Construction, Inc.'s facebook page.  Please go check it out, and remember to click the like button!  There are all kinds of pictures and interesting details including pictures of this banister that has been hidden behind a wall--no one knew it was still there!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I might be the worst blogger in our little town--sorry about that!  Never fear, there's still time to head Downtown and do your Valentine's Day shopping!

When you shop locally for Valentine's Day, you:

* Find something wonderful for the one you love
* Benefit local businesses
* Feel the love right back! 68% of dollars spent at a local merchant are
recirculated in our community.

On Saturday, February 11th, from 10am-Close, as a thank you to local shoppers, downtown merchants are offering treats, special deals and discounts to local shoppers!

Order flowers, buy a gift certificate, get a local piece of art and have it custom framed! There's jewelry, handcrafts, candles and more to be found.

Each participating merchant is offering something extra on this day. Ask about "Finding Love Downtown" when you visit the store. Also, look for the "punch card" as you shop, listing participating stores. Vist five stores and get a signature at each - leave it at the fifth to be entered in a drawing to win a gift certificate to a local shop!

Participating stores include:

Amandromeda Vintage Modern
Books on Broadway
Cafe on Broadway
CC's Gifts
Creative Corner on Broadway
Four Corners Frame and Design
Fratelli's Wood Fired Pizzeria
Heather Hill Clothing
Jonathan Edward Photography
Local Flair Art Gallery
Moosabella's
Occasions
Positive Touch Massage & Wellness Center
Pour Jon's Coffee and Tea

I'll see you Downtown!
(Because that's where I've been instead of blogging!)
